Following the Nationalization of CZ I 1948, the company introduced the double-action the CZ 50 pistol. It was developed by Kratochvil brothers. The weapon was used by the Czech police, among others. It has a recoil locking system and repeats using the recoil energy of the 7.65 (.32 ACP) cartridge. The CZ 50 is very similar in appearance to the well-known Walther PP pistol. The safety catch is on the left at the back of the frame. When it is pressed right down, the cocked hammer uncocks and the firing pin is blocked at the same time. There is a cartridge indicator on the left of the slide. This slightly protrudes when there is a cartridge in the chamber. The total length of the CZ 50 is 167 mm (6 ½ in). The barrel length is 96 mm (3 ¼ in) and the weapon weighs 700 g (24 ¾ oz.). The magazine catch for the 8-shot magazine is on the left of the frame. The takedown lever is on the right, in front of the trigger guard. After the last shot, the slide remains in its furthest position. The CZ 50 was succeeded in 1983 by the model CZ 83.
