Frantisek Dusek established a gunsmith factory in Czechis town Opocno in 1908. In 1937, started production of .25 caliber pistol based on Browning design, but with no grip safety. After 1938 this pistol was named CZ DUO. Some of the DUOs were sold in Germany but marked by distributor's name, Eblen. Some pistols were also marked JAGA in period 1939 – 1940. When Dusek refused to cooperate with the Nazis during the Second World War, they took over his factory and proceed to produce over 110,000 DUO pistols. After the war, under the Soviets, production continued until 1948 when the factory was nationalized, then the factory was moved to Ceska Zbrojovka in Uhersky Brod and the DUO pistol was renamed to "Z" and marked Zbrojovka Praha and Czechoslovak Zbrojovka. The CZ DUO is a single action pistol based on Colt .25, designed by Browning, The DUO eliminated the grip safety but retained the magazine disconnector. It is a true hammerless pistol like the Colt. The safety on the DUO prevents the sear from being lowered to release the striker, and is also by used to lock the slide open for disassembly. The CZ DUO has a 6-rounds magazine .25ACP caliber. The overall length is 110 mm (4.33 in), the barrel length is 50 mm (1.97 in).
